Rafa's Reds reign begins

Liverpool are the leaders of the Premiership after their 1-0 win over Chelsea. An early goal in the tenth minute from Xabi Alonso put the Reds ahead in the first half. Coach Rafa Benitez says the win is sending out a message of warning to Premiership rivals.

The team is in the hunt for their first league title since 1990. Personally, I think with the illustrious career the Mersey side has had it a shame it's been 18 years since they won a title. However they have been champions 18 times before, so could there be something in 18? Only time will tell.

Benitez has won against Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea since he joined the club in 2004. These three clubs are only ones to have won the Premiership since 1996.

Liverpool next play Portsmouth and Benitez say they are taking one game at time and the team need no shift their focus the game ahead.
